Massive Police Raid in Wilmington

Don't worry, the 400 police and agents aren't wasting our tax dollars shutting down Wilmington's taco trucks, it's a gang raid. The gang targeted is the 75 member Eastside Pain, who are centered around an area affectionately known as "Ghost Town." About 30 or so arrests were made.

Anyone know where Ghost Town is or anything about the Eastside Pain? I'm not familiar with either of them.

Ghost Town is way over by where Wilmington turns into Long Beach. If you're on PCH, it's east of Banning Park, after you go over that overpass that separates the street from the railroad tracks. It's very near to those hunormous container storage facilities that look like reddish-brown mountains from far away.

All I know about East Side Pain is that I first saw some of their graffiti in the late 1980s and thought it was the coolest gang name ever. So they've been around for a while, I guess.

At the time, they were a Bloods set. I have no idea what they are now. Like I said, I just thought they had an awesome name. Why name your gang after some street (especially a numbered street) when you can give yourself a scary-assed name like East Side Pain?

I know the neighborhood, but I've never called it ghost town.

When I heard the East Side Pain moniker, all I could think of were all the band ESP oriented "didn't see this coming" jokes that the cops probably made all morning.

I grew up there and they ahve it all wrong, we were once a family. Our mothers and their mothers all took care of us. We were one, black, white, and latinos, we had kids. we just want to live. Some of us became a product of our enviroment, some of us left went to prison, made a life for ourselves somewhere else or just died. Yet no matter what, dont get it wrong, we r and still will always will be a family. Those of us who grew up there we know. the media is trying to make us out to be this big organization. its not, we just want ot get by, it may not be right, but no bad intentions meant. I love my people til this day and will be there for them now. But they are good fathers and mothers. So wrong is wrong, and right is right, but we are still human. I hope they will be proven innocent until otherwise noted by the justice system, because an other thing they didnt mention was all these people except for maybe 2 had 9-5 jobs, kids, and active fathers, mothers and they took the kids away so as to get the detainees to talk. about what/ who knows, yet who is suffering the kids. is that justice/ i guess for them it is. cruel i think
