i wonder when they are going to remove the sign on the 110 Harbor blvd exit that warns of construction from a couple of years ago?
makes me think i could cut down the new four-way stop signs on the corner 20 feet from my front door and it would be many years before they managed to put them back up...

Please cut it down. There are too many of the damned things already.
On the other hand, a friend of mine lives on a one-way street at the bottom of a hill, with an alley bisecting the block. People constantly come through the alley and then turn the wrong way down the one-way street, which led to some nasty accidents when they got to the intersection--because, of course, there was no stop sign, because nobody is supposed to be going that direction in the first place.
So a few years back, my friend simply installed a standard L.A. City stop sign at the corner, and there have been no accidents since. See it for yourself on the northwest corner of 37th and Almeria. Shhh, don't tell the city!
My theory about those left over construction signs on the 110 exit is that they aren't left over, they're early for the big Caltrans re-design of the whole 110 offramp that will get done any decade now. They figured since it costs $592,201.45 in taxpayer dollars to have a sign moved, they would save us a half mil by leaving it up, knowing that someday, it would be applicable.
What I'd like to do is cut off the reflective panels that the Central Neighborhood Coucil bought for several stop signs in my neigborhood. They've become (as I suspected would happen) tagging magnets for kids.
