This week in Art & First Thursday

Well, this week's 1st Thursday should be pretty interesting. At several venues, we will be getting a peek at the Portraits exhibtion, which is apparently the subject of much contention and upset between the San Pedro Art Association and the Port of Los Angeles. Apparently not everyone is happy with the way things were done and by the E-mails that have swam through my box in the past week, a lot of fussiness is still to be worked out. That aside, you can see some of the exhibit at Angels Ink gallery and Goose Drank Wine on Seventh Street, and some more in The Loft's main gallery. At Walled City we still have Elements of Narrative on display, and our mysterious new neighbors at 311 West 7th should have some new work on their new walls tonight. Over at The Loft , in Muriel Olguin's studio, Allison Porterfield (photo above) is having an exhibition of photographs, she seems like a nice young girl so cruise over there and give her some support.

Also, this Sunday, at Angels Gate, we are hosting the opening of ...Then Again..., an exhibition of artwork by our studio artists, curated by Bill Vaughan. There is a lot of exciting new work in this show, and it's shaping up to be pretty interesting. Apparently there's going to be a live painting performance by Logan Fox during the opening, which will involve a nude model, so this is your free-opportunity-to-be-nervous-around-a-naked-person of the weekend. Sunday 2-4 PM.
