Well, once again, not really, I'm really posting about my place of employement, but once again, I wanted to use the post title.
The actual lease was signed a while back, but tomorrow morning is the official signing date for Angels Gate Cultural Center's new 30-year lease. When we approached the city about getting a 30-year lease on our current site, they said "We don't do that sort of thing." Ha! Well, it looks like you did. And for good reasons too.
Without a long term lease, it has been impossible to fundraise, to get foundation support, to involve serious sponsors for our programs, but since the lease has moved forward, we've been able to grow very quickly, expanding and bettering our programs. With the lease in place, the community will see two big things happen at Angels Gate. First, we will be able to bring more programs to the community, and better quality ones at that. Secondly, a process begins where we will be getting ready to do a $5 million development and upgrade of the site, allowing us to deliver more and better service to the community and to the professional artists we serve in the Studio Artist Program.
So feel free to come down and celebrate with us at 11 AM, Saturday, November 19. There will be a purification rite performed by Hirokazu Kosaka, involving Zen archery, and Studio Artist Susan Rawcliffe will do a short musical performance, as well. Janice Hahn, Nathan Birnbaum (AGCC's Executive Director), our board president Juliann Wolfgram and representatives of Los Angeles' Recreation and Parks Department will be speaking, but not for hours or anything. After the ceremony, we are inviting everyone back over to our galleries for cake and refreshments. I'll be there, and I might even wear shoes.

Great.
How about replacing the glaring, light polluting, inappropriate outdoor lighting fixtures installed by Ms. Hinchcliff and the DWP with modern full cutoff fixtures?
I will come up with the money from somewhere to pay to replace the ones which are aimed to the west and glare into my windows every night of my life.
And what about those multi-colored telephone poles planted near the Marine Exchange. I believe they're for some type of Native American religious rite, but didn't they used to be temporary?
