Sunken City over at blogging.la
Prolific photographer Hexodus has done gone and put together a flicker set and a post about our much loved ruin, Sunken City, over at blogging.la. In the past he's also visited, shot and posted about the Peninsula's most intriguing landmark, the wreckage of the awesomely named Dominator, a Greek freighter that ran aground in 1961 and is still rusting away today.

Citybeat did a little featurette on Sunken City a couple of weeks ago. It was OK, but they kept calling it "The Sunken City." Which is like saying "the Echo Park" or "the Bunker Hill" or "the Silverlake."
On another subject: who wants to join my Don't Give A Flying Fuck If We Never Get Another NFL Football Team In LA Club (a.k.a. Club DGAFFIWNGANFLFTILA)?
Fyi, that's now my most viewed picture. Woohoo!
I didn't see the Citybeat article.
I really, really want to see us get a NFL team in LA. Why? So that the city can stop wasting time on that issue and get onto digging its way out of the complete mess that it's in today.
Much as I hate to admit it, Cali is right. If we never get an NFL team in LA, we'll never see the end of pathetic cargo-cult behavior from local politicians and Chamber of Commerce types.
But I've got a plan.
Are you guys ready to hear my plan? It's the awesomest plan ever. Even I can't believe how clever this plan is. What we do is, we find the sorriest team in the NFL, and we get them to pay us millions of dollars in cash and infrastructure improvements for the privilege of becoming the Los Angeles [name of sorry-ass team here].
And that's it! It's that simple. They pay us!
Not only do we get to take the millions of dollars currently earmarked for corporate NFL welfare and spend it instead on things like libraries, schools, hospitals, and public parks; we also get to take the multimillion dollar surplus from the deal (the cash I was talking about) and spend it on something totally quirky and fun--like a huge pineapple field in the middle of Hollywood, or an International Bong Museum. Or a guitar library! Anybody who wanted to could check out a pre-CBS Fender Strat, or a Telecaster, or a '59 Les Paul Goldtop for a couple of weeks for free, just by presenting his Guitar Library Card at the front desk. Fuck yeah, how cool would that be?
Also, we'd have yet another sucky sports team that we could feel good about ourselves for supporting through the lean years.
Win-win, people.
