Contemplating Apocalypse & Brewery Artwalk
This weekend is the Brewery Artwalk and the last chance to see Contemplating Apocalypse, a show that I organised and am in. It's a project we're really proud of, and if you're the kind of Pedran that's willing to leave town to be entertained, we'd love to have you stop by. There's a ton of stuff to see, and we'll be serving punch and pie (well actually oatmeal cookies and malt liquor, which is way better than punch). We'll be there 11-6 on both Saturday and Sunday, check the Artwalk link for directions and such.

Anybody see this week's Random Lengths? There was a story in there about a group of private city planners who came up with a bunch of ideas for transforming/revitalizing Pedro. It read like a laundry list of things that the bloggers and commenters here at this site have been suggesting for over a year! Replacing the Autozone at 6th/Pacific, doing something with the vacant lot at 4th/Pacific, etc.
And there was another story (or was it the same story? don't have the paper handy right now) where a transit hub for Pedro was discussed. Again, people here have been clamoring for this forever!
I sure hope the city of LA didn't pay all these consultants too much to come up with these bright ideas. They could have just read this blog and the comments, and saved themselves the money AND had the ideas way earlier.
Or maybe the consultants did just that?
nobody said anything about a light-rail line though...
What's wrong with the autozone? It's a business that's doing well and looks much better than all the thrift stores on Pacific.
Yeah, you bunch of negative Nellies. Don't you know that featureless cinderblock boxes surrounded by asphalt parking lots are the architectural wave of the future? Get with the program!
