Danelo Toxicology Report In
Danelo was apparently at .23 (which from some googling around, seems to be somewhere just shy of a twelve pack - reasonably drunk) when he fell to his death. Given that there doesn't appear to be any motive for suicide whatsoever, I guess he just picked the wrong spot to enjoy his drunk.
The Breeze coverage quotes the report:

The report also couldn't ascertain what Danelo's state-of-mind was before his death but he "would have had to scale a wall to get to the strip of land before the steep drop-off of approximately 150 feet while under the influence of alcohol."
Anyone who's familiar with the wall Danelo hopped over knows that "scale a wall" is a gross exaggeration of what's involved at Point Fermin. I'm not saying there should be a better barrier, I'm just saying that there really isn't one.Labels: Mario Danelo

the question that remains now is, who was he with?
Just suppose you went out with your girlfriend for a great evening and then brought her home to your family's house.
Now just suppose your dad noticed how drunk you were and suggested that he, instead of you, should drive your girlfriend home.
Continue to suppose that your dad insisted that he and not you should drive your girlfriend home because he was afraid that you and your girlfriend might be injured or even killed because of an accident you caused by being so very drunk.
Perhaps that pissed you off. Perhaps, in hindsight you realized that your dad stood up to be the hero that he became, even with his devasting loss.
Consider your dad, now very sad that you are gone, but your girlfriend survived and so did everyone else you might have harmed by driving so drunk.
Danelo, your dad is a hero in my book and I am sad that you are gone. You were very drunk and you probably were a bit pissed off at your dad, but know that he saved your girlfriend and perhaps a few others.
In the sadness of your passing, perhaps you gave all the young folks a lesson to live by...If you party to hearty, think twice before hoping over the wall.
May your spirit live on in all of us and we all hope you rest in peace.
That's not exactly how things went down, but ditto on his dad doing the right thing and RIP.
Oh man, let's not even talk about the...you know, the doubleyou-ay-ell-ell...lest we get a bunch of safety nazis clamoring for a twelve-foot floodlit barrier with barbed wire all along the cliff. Shhhhhh!

Eds: Los Angeles firefighters have been sent to the base of the cliffs
near Point Fermin in San Pedro, where someone reported seeing what appeared to
be a body, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. (Map
page 854, B-2)
On mountain roads there are many signs warning bodies about falling rocks.
Down on the rocks of the Palos Verdes peninsula, there should be warning signs for falling bodies.

It is sad to see comments on this very sad post that try to be jokes.
Mario is at peace and I wish we didn't have to read sick jokes on this particular post. Joke somewhere else and grieve for Mario's family, his friends, and the communities that lost him.
