Fort MacArthur Yard Sale
It's here again. 100 families - quite a mix of stuff. I've noticed that these guys seem to sell a fair number of bad 80's science fiction novels every year, but beyond that it's totally random. Even if you don't buy something, it's nice to get to go on base and wander around.
Saturday Morning 8 AM - 11 AM - First Come, First Served @ Fort MacArthur on Pacific
Free Lane Victory Tours
Have you made it down to our local Liberty Ship yet? If not, this is your free chance to check it out.
9AM - 3PM @ The Lane Victory ( right at the base of the Vincent Thomas bridge, next to the Catalina Express)
Steppin' Back into History Tour
The "in'" is the Port's way of telling you they're hip! Free bus tours. Apparently you can hop on the rotating bus(s) at any of these locations: Banning’s Landing Community Center, Banning Residence Museum, Drum Barracks Civil War Museum, Fort MacArthur Military
Museum, Los Angeles Maritime Museum or Pt. Fermin Lighthouse.
10 AM - 4 PM
Summer Exhibition Opening Day at the Banning Residence Museum
Free self-guided tours of the museum. There are lectures at 11 AM and at noon, which are $5 for member and $10 to the public, call (310-548-7777) to RSVP for the lectures.
10 AM - 4 PM
Master Planning Meeting at Angels Gate
See the previous post for details. Show up and put in your two cents about the future of Angels Gate Park!
10 AM - 12 PM- At Angels Gate Cultural Center, in Building H

Downtown Farmers Market
If you haven't already, check out the new downtown Farmers Market They've got some tasty produce, waiting to make its way to your table!

Bands at Harold's Place
Word on the street is that bands are returning to Harold's. Word is Japanther is playing, along with some local favourites.
Word is it starts early, say seven-o-clock-ish.

Have you signed the R1 petition yet? If not, please come by the Albertson's in northwest San Pedro on Saturday or Sunday between noon and three and take the opportunity to tell Janice Hahn that you want the Ponte Vista site to remain with its current zoning of R1.
If you happen to HATE Bob Bisno, this is another way to voice your displeasure at this out of town developer.
