ATM Robbery Warning
According to this short Breeze piece, apparently over the past five days there have been several armed robberies at ATM machines in Downtown Pedro along the Pacific. They've got a suspect in custody, but are seeking others. Consider yourselves warned.

Maybe if they would have told the public about these robberies 5 days ago when they were apparently starting to happen, then people in the area would have been extra-vigilant? It's terrifying to be robbed at an ATM, you know? At least one guy's caught.

Thanks for the warning. The article didn't specify which ATMs on Pacific (and I used to use them!)
In the past the B of A ATM would shut down at 7pm for security. Don't know if that's still true.
P.S. FYI my friend's cousin was held up at gun point by some kids 2 weeks ago at the very benign 24th near Leland. This cousin is a very big boy (Pacific Islander + Longie), so these kids aren't shy.
However it did happen around 1am.
That commenter on the Breeze site is being way too hard on the cops. Doesn't he understand that they're busy solving important crimes--like the serving temperatures at various taco trucks around town?
I'm left wondering why the Breeze didn't disclose more details about the number of, time of and locations of the thefts. Surely this bit of basic reporting isn't beyond the capabilities of the Breeze.
How many ATMs are there downtown? Off hand I only know the WAMU, B of A, (both on Pacific), and the Wells machine on 6th and Mesa...
I use them too. I feel (felt) pretty comfortable during the daytime.
