Waterfront Scoping Meeting Tonight

and speak out against the cruise ship terminals. is there a way to submit a written comment if we can't go to the meeting?
You can submit written comments until the end of the process. Check the POLA website for details on that.

Not me - I'm submitting my comments by mail. 80% of these meetings are just listening to people who like to listen to themselves talk, and I'm not sure how effective the comments really are in that environment.
I'd love to hear a report from someone who went, though.
Without having studied the proposal in depth what is the beef with the cruise ship terminals?
RL did a story on the meeting. They included quotes from several other prominent figures like the owner of Papadakis Taverna.
Overall, the story was very similar to Donna's in reporting that there was virtual unanimity that the port was watering down b2b.
It sounded more like virtual unanimity that the plan sucked balls, with some thinking so because it watered down B2B and some thinking so because it was all too similar, as far as catering to the cruise ship industry is concerned, to B2B.
Incidentally, I seem to recall saying some time ago, in these very pages, that compromise between the two competing "visions" (Jesus, I'm sick of that word) would be a very unwise goal to shoot for.
Well, now do you guys maybe see what I was talking about? A compromise between two lousy ideas, or even between a lousy idea and a good one, is almost guaranteed itself to be lousy. And so the megamall supporters are angry because their hypertrophied tourist fantasia has been watered down, the environmentalists are pissed because the plan still has a couple of whopping cruise ship terminals, and people who are on neither side (i.e., most people) just look at the plan and say "what the fuck is this supposed to be?"
